Book Review — Rat Queens Volume 3 by Kurtis J. Wiebe

When Dee’s brother pays her a visit, The Queens learn of a secret that Hannah has been keeping from them – something that could potentially break apart their friendship. Hannah, finally, comes to understand her stepfathers motives and realizes that she has been mistaken in her hate towards him all these years. But when her father gets arrested by the council at Mage University, Tizzie arrives in time to help Hannah contact her stepfather.

While there wasn’t much content in this volume as compared to before, I absolutely enjoyed reading it. Because there weren’t many plot points explored, it was a rather quick read. A large chunk of this volume features (at the end) rough sketches of the Queens, theres a 10-12 page long special spread on Braga. It was nice to know Braga’s background, but I feel that more of the main plot could have been included. The Queens’ friendship has always been a nice touch to the story. It was also great to see Hannah and Tizzie rekindle their friendship. Hannah’s new look in this volume is badass, but I feel that she looked better before. There’s a lot of swearing, violence etc. Anyhow, it was a nice volume, but I wouldn’t say it was better than the first two.
