Book Review — Alex + Ada Volume 3 by Jonathan Luna and Sarah Vaughn

The third and the final volume of Alex + Ada starts off on a happy note. Alex’s close friends have accepted Ada for who she is, their relationship is continuing smoothly and Ada seems to have befriended some good people at the forum. But little do they know, that it was just the calm before the storm. Betrayed by someone, Alex and Ada’s information is handed over to the police. Fortunately, they manage to escape just in time. How far and how wide can they run, when the society itself is opposed to Androids?

When I first started reading this book, I didn’t know that it was the final volume. It didn’t feel like things were about to wrap up. I had always had a stinking suspicion that one of Alex’s friends were to be blamed for everything that went down as it did. In this volume, a little bit more of the technological aspect to bots is explored. The ending was different, unpredictable. The climax and the aftermath in this volume were also quite unexpected. I wouldn’t say that the ending leaves some questions unanswered. As far as I can recall, almost all loose ends are tied up neatly. Yet, somehow it doesn’t feel like an ending. The art work is so fresh and I’m so impressed by the short yet fantastic story line that the author has come up with, that I’m certainly going to look out for more of their works. I enjoyed reading it. And I’m glad to have picked up this trilogy. You should definitely read it, if you are into science fiction.
